If you were wondering what to do over the long Easter weekend, wonder no more! The renowned Japanese pianist Chihiro Yamanaka and her all-female Electric Trio band will be performing at Ronnie Scott’s jazz club on Friday 14th and Saturday 15th April.
There are performances at 6pm and 10.30pm on both the Friday and Saturday.
Chihiro Yamanaka is one of the most exciting jazz pianists of her generation and leader of the Chihiro Yamanaka Trio. The New York-based Japanese pianist has featured some of the finest jazz talent in her band and also performed alongside big names including Herbie Hancock and George Benson.
Yamanaka is returning to Ronnie Scott’s with her all-female band who recorded her recent acclaimed recording ‘The Spheres’ for Blue Note Records. Expect virtuosic, light-speed chops and an irresistible swing to her playing alongside re-workings of everything from Thelonius monk to Beethoven.
Held in one of the most famous jazz clubs in Soho and with tickets starting from £20, you can’t go wrong with this one. It’s a little known fact about me that I’m quite a jazz fan – I’m by no means a connoisseur but it’s my default music for writing and chilling out. Whether you’re a jazz pro or a novice, I highly recommend treating yourself to a performance.
In case you need even more persuasion (which I’m sure you don’t) here’s a preview of what to expect. I’ve been listening to this on repeat…
