There’s no shortage of art exhibitions taking place in London at any time of the year, and there’s one coming up that will be of particular interest to Japanophiles.
‘The Beauty of Japan and Soul of Creation’ art exhibition is coming to London 16 – 29 October, courtesy of Japan-based Radiant Star Art agency. Sixteen Japanese artists and artisans will exhibit various works, including traditional, modern and subculture works, across two venues in London.
Many of these creators are part of a new wave that will be exhibiting in London for the first time, so this is a great opportunity to see some exciting new artists in the UK. While none of the works are strictly traditional, they reinterpret Japanese tradition and also take inspiration from other cultures.
The all-encompassing theme of the exhibition is shosa, a description of the movement of the body concentrating on the movement itself, for specific activities. You can read more about the exhibiting artists here to get an idea of the range of works that will be on display.
‘Beauty of Japan and Soul of Creation’ is an opportunity to experience the ever-evolving Japanese creative scene and see Japanese culture in a new way. It’s definitely one for the diary if you’re an art lover.
Both exhibitions are free to attend. Art and postcards are available to buy from both venues, which is good news if you’re looking to decorate your home and own a unique piece of art!
